Australia tours in 2022 and 2023 offer spectacular coastlines, offshore islands, and natural beauty, making tours of the country among the best in the world for water-lovers. Australia is the world's largest island (and smallest continent) and overflows with exciting opportunities. There is the famous Great Barrier Reef, the largest coral reef in the world, only a short distance off the country's northeast coast; Western Australia's stunning beaches; South Australia's gorgeous Kangaroo Island; and Tasmania, an island rich in history and beauty. Australia's abundance of coastline, offering everything from iconic surf beaches to exclusive, white sand, palm-fringed islands, is no secret to the locals. Nearly 90 percent of Australians live near the sea. It's a mesmerizing, stunning backdrop to an already incredible and beautiful land!
Since Australia is quite a long flight from the U.S., particularly from the East Coast, we recommend when taking an Australia tour that you allow a minimum of 14 days, ideally around 21 to get a taste of various regions in Australia.
First things first - when is the best time to take an Australia tour?
The seasons run opposite to ours in the United States, so you will want to go from September through May, which is their Spring, Summer and Fall months. March through May is fall, and the temperatures will be cooler. The two most popular and, therefore, most crowded months are December and January. What parts of Australia should you visit?
That depends on how much time you have and what your interests are. We recommend you allow at least 12 days and up to 3 to 4 weeks to tour Australia. If you have only 1 week, then go straight for visiting Sydney. If you have 8 to 10 days you can find several combinations of Sydney with Melbourne, Sydney with Brisbane, Sydney with Cairns, or Sydney, Ayers Rock and Cairns. With 12 nights you can visit all of the above for a real taste of Australia.
What type of Australia tours can you choose from?
Tour companies have realized that there are different types of vacations that suit different travelers' needs. In Australia, you can take a city stay, an escorted tour, an independent vacation, a small group tour of fewer than 24 guests, rail tours or even cruise-tours. An Australia tour specialist can explain all of these in more detail and help you decide which type of vacation is best for you.
