Barbados Vacations

Barbados is an island paradise. Barbados vacation packages are popular because it is a year-round destination with temperatures averaging from 77 to 86 F and the island tends to be a bit less crowded than other areas of the Caribbean.  The shores of Barbados are beautiful! On the South side of the island the waves lap gently at your feet & the sand is fine like sugar. Pebble Beach, Brownes Beach and Bayshore Beach are all great areas to stay.  On the Atlantic side of the island, the waves are perfect for surfers!  Throughout the island you can enjoy a range of watersports including snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, boogie boarding & windsurfing.

The capital, Bridgetown is worth visiting.  Walk by the Parliament Buildings easily recognized by their neo-Gothic architecture and clock tower. The Chamberlain Bridge is across the street where you can see the yachts and colorful buildings that line the waterway. About 20 minutes from Bridgetown, is St. Lawrence Gap.  This area is known for shops and restaurants, including several along the waterfront.

At the Northern tip of the island is Animal Flower Cave. It's a great photo opp.  The large natural opening of the cave being sprayed by the waves and reflecting on the pond make it worth the trip.  Cave tours usually only take 20 minutes.  On the cliff above the cave is a restaurant that offers amazing views where during certain times of the year you can even spot whales.  This cave is more open and has plenty of light so it doesn't have a claustrophobic feeling that dark caves do.  For a true cave experience, visit Harrison's Cave.  If you happen to be on the island on Friday, you will find lots of people at the Friday Fish Fry at Oistins.  Dozens of vendors prepare freshly caught fish. You can also find lots of local vendors selling jewelry and hand made goods.

There are plenty of hotels to choose from....from quaint and romantic, to luxury villas. Popular hotels include the Crane Resort, Sandals Barbados, Hilton Barbados, Coral Reef Club, Hotel Fairmont Royal Pavillion, Radisson Aquatica & Sandy Lane.
