France's weather varies depending on what part of the country you are visiting.  We always recommend Paris in the spring or the fall.  The temperatures are milder and with typically smaller crowds.

Unlike London, the Metro system in Paris can be confusing.  If you plan on taking public transportation, we recommend studying some of the signs before you travel.  Of course, if you are on an escorted tour, transportation is all taken care of for you.  While on the subject of the Metro, be careful with pickpockets, particularly around Metro and bus stations.  Menus are not always available in English; it's a good idea to learn some basic French words.  Although most places do accept credit cards, they typically have a minimum of 15 to 20 Euros, so for smaller purchases, you will want some cash on hand. Discover is a popular option for travelers since they don't charge conversion fees, but not every place accepts it so it's recommended that you have a Visa or Mastercard on hand as well.
